Course Overview

This course introduces apprentices to the risks of radicalisation, how it develops, and how to recognise and respond to early warning signs in a safe and responsible way.

Radicalisation is a gradual process in which individuals may be influenced by harmful ideologies, often during periods of vulnerability, isolation or emotional distress. In the UK, preventing radicalisation is part of safeguarding, and everyone in the workplace has a role in creating a safe and supportive environment.

The course explains how extremist groups influence individuals, the role of online content, and how social and emotional factors can make someone more vulnerable. Learners will also understand the Prevent strategy, safeguarding responsibilities, and how to raise concerns appropriately.

The aim is not to make learners investigators, but to help them notice changes, support others, and know when and how to speak up safely.
