Professional perspective

Make project performance meaningful.

Steve Wake works at the intersection of earned value management, project controls and professional development. A former Chair of the Association for Project Management, he has contributed to guidance that helps practitioners and senior managers discuss progress, forecasts and delivery decisions.

His professional activities include the EVA conference and work on project skills and standards. His biography records his chairmanship of BSI’s MS/2 committee from 2022 to 2024 and his involvement in developing the BS 202001 project controls standard.

Steve wrote the preface to APM’s Earned Schedule paper and contributed a senior-management review to its Senior Managers’ Guide to Project Controls. These contributions reflect his interest in making performance information useful to people responsible for oversight and delivery.

His KBC Earned Value Management teaching edition offers a focused route into the relationship between scope, time and cost. Review the course curriculum to explore the available lessons and consider how performance evidence can support clearer conversations about progress and forecasts.
